Now a days women are more aware about business and also comes in the business too.As we talk about women entrepreneurs in India then we should also talk about our past era in which women are not allowed to go out of home and their education is also restricted.In villages and towns, most of the people believed that a girl can not run their houses she should always cook food. They meant that a girl is only for cooking and house hold work but as we talk about present era then a lot of names comes in our minds as a women entrepreneur.

Ritu kumar ,a fashion designer she faces a situation when she has a lack of education opportunities . but after completing her education she started her business in kolkata using two tables and chair . Mostly she focuses on bridal wear with block printing techniques . She started her career in 1960s and after that she started to open her branches in London, Paris, Newyork.
Her designs focuses on natural fabrics and traditional printing and weaving techniques.She has also included Western elements in her work, but has generally not innovated beyond traditional sari designs. Her clothes also wore by top models like Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirja.

In 2013 she was given the Padma Shri award by the Government of India.
She won the Achievement Award in 2012 at L'Oreal Paris Femina Women’s Awards.
